Google said goodbye to the Keep application in Apple Watch, which has been updated for years. With the latest version of the application in the App Store, the Watchos support was officially removed. Now Google Keep is available only on iPhone and iPad. Google did not report this change to the user with a clear announcement.
With this move, the number of Google applications in Apple Watch has declined to three. Currently only Google Calendar, Google Maps and YouTube Music are supported. However, Maps and Music applications have not received a serious update for a long time. There are noticeable deficiencies on the user experience side.
Google Keep can create a gap for Apple Watch
Google Keep was first presented in 2019 for Apple Watch. But since then, the practice had almost never developed, it had a simple and static structure. It offered functions such as taking notes, preparing a shopping list. Although it lacks current features, it was still preferred by users for basic works.
In addition to all these, the removal of the application was actually noticed by Reddit users a few weeks in advance. Some users shared the warnings from Google, “the application will soon be disabled”. Despite these notifications from the company, the fact that no official explanation was made created question marks. There is no clear information about why the application has been removed.
The fact that Google Keep has been deleted from the Apple Watch has created a gap. There is no comprehensive third -party application similar to Google Keep on the Watchos platform. The lack of a reliable and synchronized alternative that will meet the need for users quickly is noticeable. This forces Apple Watch to find temporary solutions.
Google Keep’s support still continues for the Wear OS platform. However, this does not create a consolation for Apple Watch users. Users no longer have the chance to receive or create a list via Google Keep via Apple Watch. This deficiency becomes evident especially for users who make a habit of managing daily tasks over the clock.
The Apple front appears to be a solution in the short term. With Watchos 26, Apple is expected to integrate the built -in notes application into the clock. The new update is planned to be released in autumn. This development can fill the gap arising from Keep a little bit.
However, Apple’s built -in notes application will not offer Google Keep’s cross platform support. This is an important disadvantage for people who use more than one device ecosystem. Apple Watch users may have difficulty switching between devices with different ecosystems.
