Google is leaving Google Assistant behind with Gemini

Gemini, Google's new digital assistant powered by advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and large language model (LLM), is set to go beyond Google Assistant. Gemini, which is expected to replace Google Assistant in a short time, offers solutions that will increase users' productivity, especially in e-mail management. Gmail is set to receive Gemini integration soon, allowing users to summarize long emails.

Email summarization era with Gemini integration in Gmail

Android Authority demonstrated Gemini integration in Gmail via a screenshot. Although Google has not yet rolled out this feature to everyone, the site has somehow managed to get it working. As seen in the screenshot, there will be a “Summarize This Email” button below the subject line of the email.

Clicking this button will bring up Gemini's bottom-up scrolling window, presenting a bulleted version of the email. Users will be able to give feedback by liking or disliking the result and click on the clipboard button to copy the email summary to the clipboard. This feature will be of great benefit, especially for emails with high text content.

The fact that this feature works without any glitches indicates that Google may be ready for release. However, it is thought that the company may wait before the Google I/O 2024 event. At the upcoming event, which will take place on May 14, 2024, Google; Android 15 will fully unlock advancements for Android TV/Google TV, ChromeOS, Wear OS 5 and other services including Chrome, Gemini.
