Google Gemini is now available on Chrome in more countries

As Google continues to integrate the Gemini AI-powered chat experience into its Chrome browser, it is expanding the reach of the service. Following the US debut, the company began rolling out Gemini within Chrome to users in the Asia and Pacific region. Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam are among the countries benefiting from this expansion. This move follows outreach launched in Canada, India and New Zealand earlier in the year. Thus, Gemini’s availability in Chrome reaches a wider user base on a global scale.

Users in these countries, except Japan, can access Gemini through both the desktop Chrome browser and iPhone and iPad applications. In Japan, support on the iOS side is not yet available. However, the desktop experience works similarly in all regions. Users can activate this feature by tapping or clicking the “Ask Gemini” icon in the upper right corner of the browser interface. This icon opens the side panel, which was introduced at the beginning of the year and integrated into the browser.

Multi-tab support and app integration within Chrome

One of the most remarkable aspects of Gemini in Chrome is its ability to work by preserving context between open tabs. Users can continue to chat with Gemini on the same panel while navigating different tabs. This provides practicality especially in scenarios such as research, content production or multi-source tracking. In addition, the visual creation tool called Nano Banana 2, developed by Google, is also accessible through this panel. Thus, users have the opportunity to produce visual content with text-based commands.

In addition, Gemini also works integrated with Google’s other services. For example, users can add events directly to Google Calendar during a chat or complete some actions without switching between different applications. This approach reflects the goal of transforming the browser from just a navigation tool into a more integrated work environment. However, the effectiveness of such integrations may vary depending on user habits.

On the other hand, an option is also offered for those who do not want to use Gemini. It is possible to remove this feature from the pinned position by right-clicking on the shortcut icon in the browser interface. This allows users to simplify the interface according to their own preferences.
