Google announced the Circle to Search feature two weeks ago. It was previously understood that this feature, which was first introduced to users in Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series, would not remain specific to the S24 series. The internet giant announced that this feature will also come to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
The company started the distribution of the Circle to Search feature as of January 31, as previously promised. However, this feature is not available through a software update. It was stated that Circle to Search became available on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro with an update made by the server.
In short, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro owners do not receive a notification that this feature is available. Users need to check the existence of the feature by trying it. This is thought to be not one of Google’s customary phased rollouts.
Google uses Lens infrastructure for Circle to Search
The Circle to Search feature works everywhere on phones. Users just need to long-press the navigation bar and then circle or highlight things on the screen. This new feature, which promises an easier and faster search experience compared to Google Lens, benefits from the same infrastructure as Lens. Lens can also perform multi-modal searches, both textual and visual.
