Google has announced a significant change that brings Android games to computers before the game developers Conference (GDC) to be held next week. All mobile Android games will now be included in the Google Play Games on PC platform unless the developer has a choice in the opposite direction. Earlier developers had to manually add games to the platform, but with this change, a major increase in the number of games is expected.
The Google Play Games on PC was introduced as a beta in 2022 and developed as a platform that made Android games playable on the computer. Since then, the company has been working to expand the access of the platform and improve user experience. With the new update, developers will be able to present their games to PC players without any additional transactions.
Google’s announcements on Thursday include a new “playability badge” indicating how mobile games work on the PC. This system will show the performance of the games at three different levels:
- “Optimized” badge: Indicates that a game fully meets the quality standards of Google and offers an excellent game experience on the PC.
- “Playable” badge: Indicates that the game meets minimum requirements on the PC and can be played smoothly.
- “Unconscious” badge: Indicates that the game is not officially tested on the PC. In this case, the game will be visible only when the users are searched directly.
This new system will have a structure similar to the badge system that Valve uses for Steam Deck compatibility. In this way, Google aims to make players see which games they work better on the computer.
Google Play Games on PC will not only be limited to mobile games; The company is also working to expand the platform -specific PC games. According to Google’s game managers Nia Carter, there are currently more than 50 local PC games on the platform. In 2024, Google will open its doors to all local PC game developers to add more games to the platform.
However, the usability of the Google Play Games on PC is also expanding. The company has so far offered a limited game catalog on certain AMD processor laptops and desktop systems. However, with the new change, Google will open the entire game catalog to AMD -supported devices. In addition, thanks to the cooperation with PC manufacturers, Play Games will be integrated into the starting menu of new devices.
Multi -account and session support for Google Play Games on PC
This month, the Google Play Games on PC is added to multiple accounts and multiple sessions. This feature will allow players to manage multiple game sessions at the same time.
Google Play Games On PC is expected to be available this year in general. By enlarging this platform, Google wants to not limit Android games to mobile devices and to offer a smooth experience to PC users.
