Galaxy A55, Samsung’s top-end mid-segment phone released in the first half of 2024, appeared in the Geekbench database with the Android 15 operating system. This development confirms that the device will receive at least four major Android updates. On the other hand, progress in the software development process of the Galaxy A55 also gives clues about the release of the device.
Samsung is preparing to distribute the One UI 7.0 user interface in 2025. However, the company has already started testing this new version on both flagship and mid-segment devices. Previously, Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A54 models were also listed on Geekbench with Android 15. In this context, the inclusion of Galaxy A55 in the list indicates that the new update development process is gaining momentum.
One UI 7.0 Beta process and location of Galaxy A55
The fact that the Galaxy A55 took part in multiple Geekbench tests with the Android 15 operating system suggests that an important stage in the One UI 7.0 development process has been completed. However, the official release date of One UI 7.0 is not planned before 2025. Still, it is said that Galaxy A55 users in certain countries will have the opportunity to test Android 15 within the beta program later this year.
However, there is no definitive information on this subject. Because Samsung prioritizes testing its new software on flagship devices first. The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be first in line to access both beta and final version updates.
In addition to all this, the fact that the Galaxy A55 comes with Android 15 reveals that mid-segment devices will also receive long-term support in terms of software. This move by Samsung aims to provide users with a more up-to-date and secure experience.
