Fujifilm Instax mini LiPlay+ changes the selfie experience with its new camera

Fujifilm renewed the Instax mini LiPlay model, which it introduced in 2019, and brought it back to the agenda after six years. This new model, called Fujifilm Instax mini LiPlay+, offers a functionally fuller experience than the previous version. The device, which targets especially selfie-oriented users, draws attention with its more personalization opportunities. While the device maintains its hybrid structure, it comes in a form strengthened with details that bring analog and digital together.

The most striking innovation in LiPlay+ is the second camera added to the device. Positioned on the back, this camera allows you to fit more space into the frame when taking selfies with its wide-angle lens structure. This feature is especially advantageous in group shots or when the background is wanted to be included in the frame. The user can create layered images by combining images taken from the front and rear cameras in a single frame. Thus, the photo-taking experience goes beyond just capturing a classic pose. Thanks to this dual-camera structure, Fujifilm allows users to reflect their creativity directly into their photographs.

Another change that supports this creative approach is the enlargement of the LCD screen on the back of the device. The larger screen makes it easier to adjust the frame more clearly while shooting. This offers a significant advantage, especially for those who want to edit before printing. Despite everything, the enlargement of the screen has not negatively affected the overall portability of the device. The compact structure has been preserved, thus the device remains an option that can be easily preferred for mobile use. The result obtained is a product that is both practical and visually satisfying.

In addition to all these hardware innovations, updates on the printing side also attract attention. Along with LiPlay+, Fujifilm introduced a new type of film, Soft Glitter. This film adds soft sparkles in golden tones to the frame, giving photos a more elegant atmosphere. Each film pack contains 10 exposures and is priced at around $18. This price remains at an affordable level, especially for users who print for collection purposes. In addition to all this, thanks to the new film type, print quality increases not only technically but also aesthetically.

The software side has not been left in the background either; On the contrary, the application has been completely redesigned. Through the renewed mobile application, users can edit their photos, add filters and attach voice messages. The audio file added to the photo can be listened to on smartphones thanks to the QR code placed on the print. This voice printing feature seems very interesting, especially for users who want to combine classical ways of preserving memories with digital elements. Thus, it becomes possible to create not only a visual but also an auditory memory. Although the idea of audio content is not new, integrating this feature into instant print cameras stands out as a different approach.

LiPlay+ offers a wide playing field for users who are not satisfied with just taking photos but want to enrich the moment. Being able to print directly from the camera makes it easier for users who want quick sharing. However, the ability to edit before printing increases flexibility. This shows that the device can be used not only for entertainment but also for creative projects. Fujifilm isn’t just offering an instant camera at this point; it also offers a small-scale digital studio. The combination of all these differentiates the device within its segment.

The physical dimensions of the device remain directly compatible with the user experience. Thanks to its compact design, it is light enough to be carried in a bag at any time. The easy accessibility of the selfie button makes it practical for quick shots. However, it is remarkable that so many functions are included in this small body. This density did not complicate menu usage. The interface has managed to remain simple and understandable.

The announced sales price for LiPlay+ is 235 dollars. The device is expected to hit the shelves towards the end of October. Color options include navy blue and beige tones. This simple color range makes it easier for the device to appeal to a wide range of users. Regardless, a good balance seems to have been struck between aesthetics and technical details.
