Features of Honor Magic 9 Pro Max revealed before the launch

Expected to be at the top of Honor’s new flagship series Honor Magic 9 Pro Maxappeared on the Geekbench database ahead of the official launch. The test results of the device registered with the model number WKL-AN20 are based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 indicates that the processor will be used. However, the Geekbench record does not confirm which Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 variant the chipset is. While the tested prototype has 16 GB of RAM, Android 17 is seen on the operating system side. This information also complements the previously revealed camera and software details about Honor’s Magic 9 series, which is planned to become official on September 28.

The fact that the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max sample that entered Geekbench carries 16 GB of RAM indicates that at least one of the models that will be available for sale may have this memory capacity. Despite this, it seems possible for Honor to prepare different RAM and storage options. The fact that Android 17 is running on the test device also strengthens the possibility that the phone will come out of the box with this Android version. Honor’s own user interface is MagicOS 11 and Magic 9 Pro Max is expected to be among the first models to use the company’s new software. Since the hardware and software may not have reached the final stage yet, the performance values in Geekbench should not be considered as a definitive performance indicator of the phone that will be on sale.

Honor Magic 9 Pro Max will stand out with its camera features

Information revealed about Magic 9 Pro Max outside the Geekbench record shows that Honor will focus especially on camera hardware. The phone is planned to be the top model of the series. With a camera system co-branded ARRI is expected to arrive. It is stated that a 200 megapixel camera with a 1/1.28 inch type sensor will be used in the main camera. It is stated that this will be accompanied by a 200 megapixel periscope telephoto camera using a 1/1.4 inch type sensor. While the camera system is expected to be completed with an ultra-wide-angle camera, there is no clear information yet about the resolution and other technical features of this sensor.

The use of two separate 200 megapixel cameras shows that Magic 9 Pro Max will offer an ambitious hardware package, especially on the main camera and optical zoom side. However, the number of megapixels alone is not a factor that determines image quality; Sensor size, lens structure, image processing algorithms and software optimization will also have a direct impact on the result. What role the ARRI brand will play in the camera system is among the details that need to be clarified when the phone is introduced. It is not yet known to what extent the partnership will be reflected in areas such as color profiles, video features or image processing options. Therefore, it will be necessary to wait for the final device to see how the strong technical values of the camera hardware will be reflected in real usage performance.

It has been used by Honor in its upper segment Magic models for a long time. 3D facial recognition system It will continue in Magic 9 Pro Max. It is claimed that there may be a square-shaped selfie sensor in addition to this biometric security system on the front. Honor’s 3D facial recognition solution also uses the depth information of the face, unlike software facial recognition methods based on the standard front camera. Therefore, how the sensor layout on the front will be placed in the screen design will be one of the factors that determine the appearance of Magic 9 Pro Max. Technical details of the front camera and 3D sensing hardware have not been disclosed yet.

Another point to note in the Geekbench result is the test version. Magic 9 Pro Max prototype Geekbench 6.7.1 It has been tested with and therefore it is not correct to directly compare the results with the newer Geekbench 7 results. Since the testing methods and scoring system used in different major versions of Geekbench may vary, direct performance comparisons cannot be made between versions. In addition, the fact that the device tested is a prototype means that various settings, from processor frequencies to thermal management, may differ from the final product. At this stage, the most concrete contribution of the Geekbench record is that it shows the combination of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, 16 GB RAM and Android 17 rather than performance scores.

Honor Magic 9 series on September 28 It is planned to be introduced and Magic 9 Pro Max will be positioned as the top option of the series. The information revealed so far shows that the phone is being prepared with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, Android 17 based MagicOS 11, 3D facial recognition and two 200 megapixel cameras. However, due to the prototype nature of the device on Geekbench and the fact that some of the camera information has not yet been officially confirmed, some details may change until the launch. In particular, the variant of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 to be used, the features of the ultra-wide-angle camera and other memory options still remain unclear. These details, as well as the pricing and sales plan, are expected to become clear with the announcement on September 28.
