Facebook renewed its video player

While the Facebook Live craze is now a thing of the past, Meta continues to work to make the platform more “video friendly.” The company announced Reels on Facebook, a new player for long-form content and live videos.

One of the biggest changes is that Facebook will even show landscape videos in full screen. Videos will automatically play vertically, but when users turn their phones sideways, the video will fill the screen horizontally.

Just like on TikTok, on Facebook, there will be a slider at the bottom of the screen that will allow you to quickly scroll through the video. The update also brings some features such as the option to skip forward or backward by 10 seconds, which is also available in applications of platforms such as Netflix.

Meta also underlines that “more relevant video suggestions” will now be offered in the video tab and stream. The company will also increase the number of Reels displayed on Facebook.
