Ericsson and Turkcell took an important step towards digital transformation efforts in Turkey and entered into a collaboration that provides automatic eSIM activation for wearable technologies. Within the scope of this partnership, Turkcell subscribers will be able to activate eSIMs on their secondary devices such as smart watches remotely and fully automatically. By commissioning Ericsson’s Secure Entitlement Server (SES) solution, Turkcell aims to both improve customer experience and provide an infrastructure compatible with digital technologies.
While eSIM activation for secondary devices usually requires manual processes, with Ericsson’s SES solution, this process is fully automated. Enabled using subscriber authentication, single number-MSISDN and two different IMSIs, this system enables users to manage their eSIMs remotely without the need for any physical SIM card. This offers Turkcell customers the opportunity to benefit from voice and data services without their smartphones.
What is the Ericsson SES solution and how does it work?
Ericsson Secure Entitlement Server (SES) solution is a platform developed for communications service providers (CSPs), offering multi-service provider support and eSIM management. This platform allows CSPs to integrate their own brands and seamlessly manage their users’ eSIMs, while also helping operators bring devices to market quickly. In this context, by activating the SES solution, Turkcell accelerates eSIM activation in secondary devices such as wearable devices and provides remote connection to a wider device ecosystem.
Turkcell Deputy General Manager Responsible for Network Technologies Prof. Dr. Vehbi Çağrı Güngör states that digital transformation will accelerate in Turkey with this cooperation. Güngör said in his statement, “With Ericsson’s SES solution, we offer our customers a flexible and uninterrupted connection experience. We foresee that wearable devices and eSIM technology will play an important role in the digital ecosystem of the future. “This partnership will help us both evaluate market opportunities in Turkey and accelerate digital transformation.”
Ericsson Turkey General Manager Işıl Yalçın expressed their satisfaction with this cooperation in Turkey and stated that this cooperation with Turkcell will make eSIM activation for wearable devices easier and faster. Yalçın said, “We are excited to help Turkcell simplify device activation and overcome on-time time-to-market challenges with different deployment models by using Ericsson’s Secure Entitlement Server solution. We believe that this solution will contribute to Turkcell creating a network infrastructure ready for future technologies.” he said.
