Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chat bot Grok opens to free users

Introduced by Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI at the end of 2023 and initially offered only to premium users of the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Grok is now available to free users in certain regions. According to TechCrunch, this development emerged with the updates detected by researchers and users in Grok.

According to the posts of X user Swak, there are some conditions for those who want to use Grok for free. First, the account must be at least seven days old and be associated with a phone number. Additionally, free users are subject to certain limitations in two-hour periods; They can ask 10 questions to the Grok-2 model and 20 questions to the Grok-2 mini model. In addition, they are entitled to three image analyzes per day.

Features of Grok-2 and Grok-2 Mini models

The Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini models are released in late summer 2024. xAI describes Grok-2 as the most advanced AI chatbot yet, capable of pulling real-time information from the X platform. Grok-2 mini, on the other hand, aims to offer a balance between speed and response quality.

With this step, xAI will bring artificial intelligence technologies to a wider user base. The availability of the free version of Grok in certain regions aims to enrich the user experience by increasing the accessibility of artificial intelligence-powered chat bots.

However, the restrictions imposed on free users are intended to protect the sustainability and service quality of the platform. These limitations both allow users to experience Grok and aim to keep the performance of the platform balanced.

There is no official statement yet regarding in which regions and when the free version of Grok will be available. Users are recommended to follow the announcements to be made on the X platform.
