DJI brings a strong innovation to the mid-segment drone market with the Air 3S model. This model, added to the Air 3, offers better image quality, especially in low light, and ensures safe return with its obstacle detection feature during night flights. While the Air 3, which is already a versatile drone, already has a successful low-light performance, this development makes the Air 3S even more attractive.
DJI Product Experience Director Ferdinand Wolf said about the new model: “DJI Air 3S takes the Air Series to a new level with professional features such as dual main cameras and obstacle detection from all directions. “With its weight of only 724 grams, it offers unlimited freedom and flexibility,” he said. Wolf also stated that this model is an excellent option for travel photography and offers safety in night operations.
The Air 3S is equipped with a comprehensive set of sensors for obstacle detection during night flights. The LiDAR sensor placed on the front, infrared time-of-flight sensors at the bottom and a total of six vision sensors (two each on the front, rear and bottom) support this function.
DJI Air 3S is equipped with a 1-inch sensor with 50 megapixel resolution and a 24mm lens on its main camera. There is also a second camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels, a 1/1.3 inch sensor and a 70mm (3x zoom) lens. Both cameras offer up to 14 stops of dynamic range when shooting in automatic mode. Additionally, 10-bit videos can be encoded in H.265 format with improved ISO values.
The main camera is capable of shooting 4K/60fps HDR and 4K/120fps video. According to DJI’s statement, the file sizes of these videos are 30% smaller compared to Air 3. Air 3S offers 42GB internal storage and microSD card support with a maximum flight time of up to 45 minutes, so it is possible to safely store all captured images. Additionally, without turning on the drone, videos can be transferred wirelessly to the phone or quickly uploaded to the laptop via the USB-C cable.
How much should you pay for DJI Air 3S?
DJI Air 3S comes with a variety of smart shooting options. The ActiveTrack 360 feature allows the drone to automatically follow the subject while shooting. This way, the pilot can focus on composition and camera movements. Additionally, both cameras support DJI’s Free panorama mode; This mode can combine multiple images around a selected area or subject.
