Dell is bringing the XPS brand back to the agenda after taking a break for a while. While the company brings back the XPS 13, one of the most well-known laptop series for many years, with a new design, it positions the product as an option that offers premium features at more accessible prices. The new Dell XPS 13, which is shown as a rival to Apple’s MacBook Neo model, stands out with its slim structure and relatively low starting price.
The new Dell XPS 13 has a body that is 12.7 mm thick and weighs approximately 1 kilogram. According to the information provided by Dell, this model is the thinnest and lightest XPS 13 ever produced. The company also states that the device is more compact in terms of size and weight than Apple’s competing model. Despite this, it seems that the premium character of the laptop has not been compromised. CNC machined aluminum case, four-speaker sound system, Wi-Fi 7 support and 2.5K resolution IPS screen are among the prominent features of the device.
On the pricing side, Dell follows a remarkable strategy. While the starter model for students is offered with a price tag of $599, the starting price for standard consumers is set at $699.
The basic configuration for students includes an Intel Core Series 3 processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Users who want higher performance can turn to versions that can be configured with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors. In addition, the memory capacity can be increased up to 32 GB and the storage space can be increased up to 1 TB. Dell will offer the new model in two different color options called “Storm” and “Sky”.
Dell XPS 13 stands out with its screen and hardware features
Dell emphasizes that although it has developed an affordable model, it does not impose serious restrictions on the hardware side. This approach is especially evident in the screen features. The new XPS 13 comes with a panel with touch support and a 120 Hz refresh rate. In addition, it is stated that the screen covers 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. This value can be advantageous in usage scenarios that require content production and color accuracy.
In addition, the device has a fully illuminated keyboard. While there are two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports on the connection options side, the integrated webcam with Windows Hello support facilitates security and login processes. It seems that Dell focused on modern connectivity standards in this model.
On the other hand, there are some differences compared to Apple’s MacBook Neo model. While a fanless design is preferred in the MacBook Neo, the XPS 13 uses a dual-fan active cooling system. This may create an advantage in Apple’s favor regarding silence. Despite this, an active cooling solution can contribute to maintaining performance, especially in applications operating under high load and in hot environments.

One of the notable shortcomings of the new model is the lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It is not clear yet whether Dell will include an adapter in the box. For those who use wired headphones, this detail is among the factors that can be taken into consideration during the purchasing phase.
Dell also reflects its confidence in the new XPS 13 in its sales calendar. According to the company’s statement, the basic model will be available in June. High-end configurations offering more powerful processors, more memory and storage space are expected to gradually reach users during the summer months. In the laptop market where prices continue to rise, XPS 13 stands out as one of the models that aims to offer premium design and modern features at a more accessible level.
