Critical change for Xiaomi’s new foldable phone

It seems that a new model has been introduced in Xiaomi’s foldable phone series after a break of about a year. The company last introduced the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 model in 2024, but no new device was announced in this segment throughout 2025. Despite this, the latest information shows that the brand is preparing for a return to the foldable device category. Claims based on industry sources reveal that there has been a change in the promotion calendar of the new model. It is stated that the launch, which was initially expected at an earlier date, has been postponed. In addition, when it comes to naming the device, the name Xiaomi 17 Fold is mentioned more strongly.

According to Kartikey Singh, known for his reliable leaks, Xiaomi’s new foldable phone would initially be introduced with the Xiaomi 17 Max model. However, it is stated that this plan has changed and the launch has been moved to the beginning of July. However, there is no clarity on the official name of the device. It is possible that the “Mix Fold” brand used in previous generations may be abandoned.

Xiaomi 17 Fold name and technical details are taking shape

The resulting IMEI database records are considered a strong sign of this change. The listing of a device with the model number “26023PN08C” and the code name “pecan” has attracted attention. Although the “PX” code structure was used in Xiaomi’s previous foldable models, the inclusion of the phrase “PN” in this new model indicates a different strategy. This suggests that the device could be included in Xiaomi’s main lineup. Despite this, the exact nomenclature has not yet been confirmed.

On the hardware side, an upper segment structure is envisaged. According to leaks, the device is expected to come with Qualcomm’s new generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. It is stated that this chipset will offer significant improvements in terms of performance and energy efficiency. In addition, the camera features are also remarkable. Allegedly, the device will include a Samsung S5KHP5 main sensor with a resolution of 200 megapixels. In addition, there will be a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle OV50M sensor and a 50-megapixel auxiliary camera. A 16-megapixel selfie camera is expected on the front.
