Microsoft continues to offer remarkable innovations for Windows 11 users. The latest updates with the Insider Preview Build version bring functionality and visual innovation to the battery icon of the operating system. The traditional black battery icon could make it difficult for users to instantly understand the battery status. Microsoft, who wants to relieve this deficiency, equipped the battery icon with three different colors and makes the situation visually more understandable. The new design aims to facilitate the life of users, especially intensively portable devices.
This innovation in the battery icon expresses the battery status of the device more clearly through colors. The green color indicates that the device is charged and the battery level is good, while the icon turns yellow when the battery level goes below 20 %. In this case, the energy saving mode is automatically activated and the user should save battery. When the battery level goes to a critical level, the icon turns red and states that the device should be charged in a short time. This visual change allows users to manage their devices more effectively.
Other improvements in the new battery icon
Microsoft improves the user experience with other updates as well as colored battery icons. Besides the battery icon, the percentage of charging can be shown. This feature allows to clearly see the battery status before it reaches the battery icon in the system tray. The new battery percentage indicator can be easily activated from the power and battery section on Windows Settings. Thus, users can follow the battery level of their devices more consciously.
Another important innovation is about the regulation of charging status icons placed on the battery icon. Additional indicators such as the lightning icon used earlier could create confusion by covering the battery icon. However, in the new design, such indicators were optimized to prevent the battery icon. This arrangement offers a visually simplification and increases functionality.
The new battery icon will be not only on the system tray in the taskbar, but also on the fast settings menu and the general Windows settings screen. This feature allows users to easily track battery status from different fields. In the following updates, this new icon is planned to be used on the lock screen. Thus, users will be able to check their battery status even without opening their devices.
Microsoft says this update is intensively requested by users in the Windows Insider program. Especially laptop users pointed out the importance of seeing the battery level more accurately and clearly. This innovation was developed as a response to users’ demands and based on feedback. However, it is worth mentioning that these new features are not yet available to all Insider users. Microsoft plans to reach a wider audience by examining feedback from users.
All these innovations make Windows 11’s goal of becoming a user -friendly operating system. Features such as colored battery symbol and percentage indicator are considered as an important step in terms of both visuality and functionality. However, it is important to optimize such innovations according to the needs and expectations of users before they are generally available. In this way, the user experience will be moved to the highest level.
