Bluesky now supports video sharing

Decentralized social media platform Bluesky continues to develop rapidly as an alternative to X. The platform announced in a statement that it now allows video sharing of up to 60 seconds via its desktop site and mobile app. This new feature aims to further enrich the experience of Bluesky users.

Videos will autoplay by default, but users can disable autoplay by changing this setting. It will also be possible to add subtitles to videos and use certain tags, such as adult content. However, this new feature comes with some limitations; users can only upload a maximum of 25 videos per day or add a total of 10GB of video content.

Bluesky has also introduced some security measures to protect the platform from malicious content and spam attacks. Users will be required to verify their email addresses before sharing videos. Additionally, users who repeatedly violate community rules may have their video sharing permissions revoked. Uploaded videos will also be scanned by an AI moderation solution called Hive to detect illegal content and a non-governmental organization called Thorn, which fights against child abuse.

Bluesky is gradually rolling out video support

Users of the social network can check if they have access to this new feature by refreshing its desktop site or updating its mobile app to version 1.91. The platform is rolling out the video-sharing feature gradually, so not all users may have access right away.

The addition of video sharing to Bluesky is seen as a significant step that will help close the gap between the platform and X. The development aims to attract a wide range of users, including sports followers, humorous content sharers and news organizations.
