Asus continues to expand its options in the mini gaming PC market. The company introduced the newest member of the ROG NUC series to users in China. While it is noteworthy that this new model features an AMD processor for the first time, it also stands out with its performance-oriented hardware components. This system, housed in a compact case, claims to be a serious alternative in terms of gaming and productivity.
Equipped with the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor, the new ROG NUC offers powerful performance in a small volume. With this model, Asus has separated from the Intel-centric structure that has existed in the NUC brand for years. Although AMD chips have been included in the ExpertCenter series before, this is a first for the ROG NUC brand. With this choice, Asus adopts a more flexible NUC identity that is no longer limited to the processor brand. In addition to all these, the performance offered by the hardware used technically supports this transition.
Asus highlights multitasking performance with high-core AMD processor
Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor comes with 16 cores and 32 threads. Compared to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, higher scores are achieved in multi-core performance. However, Intel still holds a small advantage in single-core power. Despite this, the balance offered by AMD in processor-intensive tasks such as content creation as well as games seems to attract the attention of users. The fact that the processor is based on Fire Range architecture provides high-level desktop power on mobile.
On the graphics side, there is NVIDIA’s mobile RTX 5070 GPU. This card, which has 8 GB GDDR6 video memory, has the capacity to run current games fluently. However, tests have shown that the graphics power gives results close to desktop even though it is mobile. Asus’ choice of this GPU makes it possible not to compromise on performance while preserving the size of the system. This approach offers an attractive structure for those who want to balance performance and mobility.
The system comes with 32 GB DDR5-5600 MHz RAM, and this capacity can be increased up to 96 GB thanks to two SODIMM slots. Additionally, a 1 TB capacity PCIe 5.0 compatible SSD also comes with the system. A very flexible structure was preferred in terms of storage speed and expansion possibilities. This hardware ensures that the system is not just for gaming; It also makes it a powerful tool in areas such as video editing and software development. In other words, a system that is not limited to a single usage scenario has been created.
A very rich range of connection options is also offered. 1 USB4 Type-C port stands out with its high data transfer speed. In addition, there are a total of 6 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and 2 HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 outputs. Wireless connections have not been forgotten either; Thanks to WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support, a future-proof structure has been established. These features create advantages for users who want to easily connect hardware peripherals and provide high-speed wireless access.
As for the cooling system, Asus has offered an ambitious solution here too. The system, supported by three fans, has two separate steam rooms. This structure increases the sustainability of performance by balancing the heat of both the processor and the graphics card. In this way, the stability of the system is maintained under long-term load. Thus, users get an uninterrupted experience without experiencing any performance drops.
Although the ROG NUC’s case is only 3 liters in volume, it is at a level that can compete with desktop computers with the hardware it contains. The device, whose dimensions are 282.4 x 187.7 x 56.5 mm, can easily fit into small spaces. This compact structure makes it especially attractive for users with limited space. On the other hand, professional users who need portability can also benefit from this system. In other words, the device can appeal not only to gamers but also to different segments of society.
The new model is currently available for pre-order only in China and its price is set at 14,999 yuan (approximately 88,400 TL). It is stated that the retail price of the device, which will be available for sale on October 20, will be approximately 1000 yuan (approximately 5900 TL) higher than the launch label. There is no clear information shared about when Asus will offer this model in global markets. Despite this, it is predicted that the product will attract attention in other regions with its remarkable hardware. In this context, sales performance in China may also affect the global spread of the product.
