The new Siri experience, which Apple has been working on for a long time, is expected to become official at the WWDC 2026 event. According to information shared by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the company will make Siri an independent application with iOS 27. It is stated that the new application will come with various innovations such as chat history support, file upload feature and automatically deleted conversations. In addition, it is stated that Apple plans to offer the new Siri version with the “beta” label even when it becomes available for general use in the fall. The company has been seen to follow a similar approach with Apple Intelligence features in recent years.
Apple’s new Siri application seems to have a different structure than the existing voice assistant. It is reported that users can start a new chat, create a voice conversation and upload files to Siri within the application. In addition, it is said that a new gesture support that can be used throughout the system will help you quickly open Siri chats. On the interface side, it is stated that users can choose between two different views. One of them will provide a single conversation screen similar to ChatGPT, while the other will provide a list-based chat view like in the Messages application.
At the center of the new Siri experience is Apple’s goal of making its artificial intelligence infrastructure stronger. It was previously brought to the agenda that the company cooperated with Google to use Google Gemini models on the Siri side. Despite this, it is stated that Apple will prefer to process user data through its own “Private Cloud Compute” infrastructure instead of sending it directly to Google. Thus, it is stated that Siri conversations will not be used for Google’s model training. Considering that Apple has highlighted its privacy-focused approach in recent years, this system seems to be in a critical position for the company.
Apple will be able to automatically delete chat history in the new Siri application
According to information provided by Bloomberg, the new Siri application will offer options similar to the automatic message deletion feature on iMessage. Users will be able to keep Siri chat history after 30 days, a year, or indefinitely. Thus, whether artificial intelligence-supported chats will be kept on the device for a long time will be left entirely to user preference. While discussions about data privacy continue, especially in productive artificial intelligence systems, it is noteworthy that Apple includes such options directly into the system.
On the other hand, there are some question marks as to why Apple will offer its new Siri application with a beta label. It is reminded that the company also distributed Apple Intelligence features in beta during iOS 18. According to Gurman, Apple’s in-house iOS 27 versions include a separate beta key for the new Siri. It is also stated that users can exit the new Siri experience if they wish. It is not yet clear whether this will be independent of the existing Apple Intelligence shutdown option.
Apple’s Siri renewal process has actually been on the agenda for several years. It is stated that the company plans to offer the Siri version with more advanced artificial intelligence features in 2024, but the development process has been prolonged. Despite this, Apple is expected to announce a comprehensive transformation for Siri at the WWDC 2026 event. It seems that Apple wants to move the Siri experience to a more modern structure, especially after the widespread use of productive artificial intelligence systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. How successful the new application will be in daily use will be clearer after the version to be published in the autumn.
