Apple’s iCup announcement is not a new product, it is a coffee deal

Although the iCup Supply Specialist advertisement published by Apple gives the impression of a new product due to its name, it is about coffee supply. The company is looking for an expert to ensure fresh coffee is available in employee areas at the Apple Park campus.

The announcement includes monitoring the stocks of coffee beans and consumables in the break areas. In addition, keeping coffee machines in working order, cleaning order and monitoring the supply flow are among the duties.

The name “iCup” is not a cup or connected home product that Apple will offer for sale. A name the company uses for its in-house coffee service. Similar iCup job postings are known to date back to at least 2014.

The position requires communicating with different teams and daily inventory planning. So the task is not just about preparing coffee; It focuses on the uninterrupted progress of the service on campus.

The ad has nothing to do with the product rumor.

Apple’s long-standing use of the “i” suffix in product names has easily turned the phrase iCup into a device rumor. However, the official ad text makes no mention of product development, hardware design or retail sales.

On the other hand, this announcement shows how detailed operations are carried out in the employee experience in large technology companies. To summarize, iCup is not a new product that we will see in Apple stores; The name of an in-house program that manages employee coffee service.
