Apple Vision Pro statement from Netflix CEO

The pre-order process for Apple’s first mixed reality headset, Vision Pro, started 10 days ago. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the company sold 160 to 180 thousand titles in the first place. However, those who purchase Apple’s first mixed reality headset will not be able to watch Netflix with the headset.

Speaking to the Stratechery site, Greg Peters, co-CEO of the company, gave information about why the popular content platform did not prepare a Vision Pro application. According to Peters, it is unnecessary to prepare such an application for now. Peters stated that the number of subscribers who own Vision Pro is still insufficient.

This does not mean that the company will never prepare an Apple Vision Pro application. Peters stated that they are not against this, but they plan to see how the process will take shape.

Netflix is not the only shortcoming of Apple Vision Pro

It should be reminded that Netflix is not the only platform that does not prepare an application for Apple Vision Pro. YouTube and Spotify are among the platforms that do not currently prepare an Apple Vision Pro application.

Apple’s own online content platform, Apple TV+, offers an experience that goes beyond the virtual screen in Vision Pro. Developing a new format called “Apple Immersive Video”, the company will provide an 8K resolution 180-degree 3D video experience supported by spatial sound.
