Apple offers repair parts for iPhone 16 and 16 Pro

Apple started selling repair parts for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro at its self-service repair store. This development expands the opportunity for users to replace various components of their devices with parts directly from Apple. This sale, which includes original spare parts of frequently damaged parts such as camera, screen, battery and back glass, is considered as a new stage in Apple’s steps in phone repair. This step comes after the official repair guides for the iPhone 16 series that Apple published in September.

Spare part prices for the iPhone 16 series vary depending on the model. While the camera module replacement fee is set at $169 for iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, this price goes up to $249 for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. In addition, the prices for screen replacements vary between 279 and 379 dollars depending on the device model.

While battery replacement fees are $99 for the entire iPhone 16 series, this amount is $119 for Pro models. Along with these parts, Apple also offers the option of renting special repair kits for users who do not have the necessary equipment for repair. These kits are available for a fee of $49, making all the necessary tools easily accessible to users before beginning the repair process.

Apple expands self-service repairs with iPhone 16 and 16 Pro

As discussions about the right to repair intensified in the technology world in recent years, the steps taken by Apple on this issue began to attract attention. The company now supports users to carry out repairs at their own expense, which for a long time allowed them to be carried out only at authorized services. Within the scope of the self-service repair program announced by Apple in 2021, users began to access the spare parts they needed. The sale of these parts for the iPhone 16 series shows that Apple is expanding these policies. In addition, this development also offers a cost advantage to those who want to repair their devices themselves.

Apple is expected to provide more support for third-party parts, not just its own spare parts. The company aims to improve its infrastructure this year to facilitate the use of more affordable components such as batteries and screens that can be obtained from independent manufacturers. Apple’s support for third-party parts could reduce costs for users and provide access to a wider range of repairs.
