Apple may release smart glasses and camera-equipped AirPods in 2027

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple continues to work on new visual intelligence-based products. Apple is working on AirPods with glasses and cameras similar to the smart glasses developed by Meta in collaboration with Ray-Ban. However, these products are expected to be released in 2027 at the earliest, and even this date is not certain.

According to the news, Apple wants to recover some of the billions of dollars of R&D investment spent on the development of Apple Vision Pro. In this regard, it aims to integrate visual intelligence technology into more products. Visual intelligence was previously announced with the camera control features of the iPhone 16. It is stated that the company’s next step is to transfer this technology to the form of glasses.

The glasses that Apple plans to launch will not be full augmented reality (AR) glasses. Instead, there will be smart glasses equipped with hardware such as cameras, speakers and microphones. This concept is similar to the glasses Meta developed with Ray-Ban, which have become very popular. Meta sells these glasses at prices starting from $299, but different price options are also available.

Apple is also considering the idea of AirPods with cameras along with new smart glasses

Apple’s plans for AirPods with cameras are also still on the agenda. There are uncertainties as to why this product, which has been reported before, will be preferred over glasses. It is also questioned whether outward-facing cameras are suitable for a product like AirPods, but Apple continues to test its visual intelligence features in different form factors.
