Apple Fitness Plus and Strava join forces

Apple aims to offer a new experience to its users by integrating its Fitness Plus service, which is not yet operational in Turkey, with the popular fitness application Strava. Within the scope of the collaboration, Fitness Plus users will now be able to access more detailed training summaries on Strava. In addition, Strava subscribers will receive a three-month free trial of Fitness Plus. This innovation is considered an important step for fitness enthusiasts in terms of both technical integration and content diversity.

Previously, Apple Watch users could transfer Fitness Plus workouts to Strava with only basic information. However, this transfer included limited data, for example calorie and pulse information. Thanks to the new integration, Fitness Plus workouts can be viewed on Strava with more comprehensive details such as episode number, music genre, trainer information, metrics and achievements. This development will allow users to analyze their workouts more deeply.

Guest athletes stand out in new collaboration

This integration is not limited to technical features only. Strava’s well-known athletes will appear as guests in Fitness Plus content. For example, famous runner Hellah Sidibe will be on the platform with a strength training session on January 13. On the same day, Kayla Jeter will meet Fitness Plus users with a treadmill workout. Such innovations aim to offer different experiences to sports fans by increasing the content diversity of the platforms.

Apple’s Vice President of Fitness Technologies Jay Blahnik stated that they have long appreciated Strava’s community-oriented approach. Blahnik stated that this collaboration will increase the inclusiveness of Fitness Plus and offer more interesting content for users of different levels. Additionally, Blahnik emphasized that this integration is just the beginning and further developments are planned in the future.

On the other hand, it seems that Strava aims to please its users with this collaboration. Strava, which has recently attracted criticism from some users due to API changes for third-party applications, is trying to compensate for this situation with a free three-month Fitness Plus trial period. This step is considered as an effort to keep users on the platform and increase interest in its services.

Ultimately, this collaboration stands out as a strategic move for both Apple and Strava. While Apple positions Fitness Plus as a complementary resource for experienced athletes, Strava aims to expand its user base and increase loyalty. The collaboration of two giants represents a remarkable innovation in the world of fitness.
