Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company will invest a total of 600 billion dollars in the United States in the next four years. Newly explained American Manufacturing Programfocusing on domestic production of iPhone and Apple Watch components and aims to create new employment of 20,000 people.
Within the scope of this new investment, which was added on a plan of 500 billion dollars previously announced, it brings a significant portion of Apple production to the USA. In this respect, the production of windows used in iPhone and Apple Watch models with Corning partnership will now be held in Kentucky. Apple allocated an additional $ 2.5 billion resource for this production line. The Harrodsburg plant, which is determined as a production center, will provide glass to devices sold all over the world. Apple will also establish a new research and development center here.
The American Manufacturing program, located in the center of the new plan, is not limited to glass production. Apple plans to cooperate with more than 10 manufacturers in different regions from Texas to Arizona. Samsung, Broadcom, Texas Instruments, Coherent and Applied Materials are included in this list. Apple aims to reduce Asian -based addiction by diversifying the supply chain. The production of high -tech components with these collaborations will be drawn to the USA.
iPhone and Apple Watch Glasses will now be produced in the USA
The agreement with Corning is considered as an extension of the domestic production targets that Apple has long been part of. The new R & D Center, which the company will build in Kentucky, will include artificial intelligence equipment developed for Apple Intelligence. The server hardware facility, which was under construction in Houston in the same period and will serve Apple Intelligence, is part of this process. Apple plans to commission the production line in 2026. When the facility is completed, artificial intelligence -based data processing capacity will be increased with local resources. This center will be an important part of Apple’s production network throughout the USA.
Within the framework of the American Manufacturing program, not only hardware but also the software infrastructure is investing. In the center of the company in Silicon Valley, the number of teams working in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning was increased by 30 %in the last year. With this growth, Apple has started to carry out the development processes of new generation Apple Intelligence products in the USA. These investments make the company’s efforts to keep the whole process within the country from production to software. The company’s total R & D expenditure in this direction exceeded 100 billion dollars.
Apple’s total $ 600 billion investment plan includes not only its own production facilities, but also hundreds of suppliers in the ecosystem. New agreements with companies such as Globalfoundries and Amkor include the purchase of chip production and packaging processes to the USA. Another agreement with MP Materials will start the production of rare soil magnets in Nevada. Thus, Apple aims to solve the supply of critical materials used in its products. Most of these investments will be completed until 2029.
With all these developments, the direct and indirect employment of Apple throughout the United States reached 450,000. This figure is expected to exceed 500,000 when all of the newly announced investments are implemented. In the financial statements announced at the end of the company’s financial statements, there was a significant increase in US -based production expenditures. Apple shares gained close to 5 %after the investment decision. Corning shares were also increased by over 4 %.
