Google has already submitted Android 15 code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but it has yet to release an update to supported Pixel devices. The update was rumored to arrive next month, and today a possible release date has finally emerged.
According to a new report, Google will begin rolling out the latest Android update for Pixel devices via over-the-air (OTA) on October 15. However, the report does include a warning that plans could change if major bugs are found by then. Other Android device manufacturers are expected to begin the rollout process shortly after Google.
Which devices will receive Android 15 distribution?
The latest Android version will be available for Pixel 6 and newer devices. Google’s delay in releasing the update compared to AOSP will hopefully ensure that the final version is fully optimized and free of major bugs.
The latest Android version will also be coming to the new Pixel 9 devices that were announced in August. Google deviated from its traditional launch schedule this year by introducing the Pixel 9 in August instead of October. The Pixel 9 models launched with Android 14 on day one and will be updated to Android 15 in October, like all other supported Pixel devices.
