An unusual flagship phone may come from Huawei

It has been claimed that Huawei is working on a new device that goes beyond conventional smartphone designs. According to recent leaks, the company plans to carry the large screen approach seen in foldable models to the classic smartphone form this time. It is stated that the device, which is expected to be introduced after the Huawei Mate 90 series, can meet with users before the end of 2026. If such a product is implemented, Huawei can offer a different alternative among the flagship phones that have been very similar to each other in recent years.

According to the information revealed, Huawei is testing a screen with an aspect ratio of approximately 16:10. This panel, which is stated to offer 2K resolution, can provide a wider display area than most high-end phones today. Although similar screen ratios have been used before in foldable phones, the application of the same approach to the traditional smartphone body stands out as a remarkable development. Thanks to this structure, it may be possible to obtain more screen space, especially in usage scenarios such as multitasking, document viewing and video consumption.

Digital Chat Station, which is considered one of China’s reliable technology sources, stated that it saw the engineering prototype of the device in the information it shared on Weibo. According to the source, the phone has a thinner and lighter structure than expected, despite its large screen. However, there are no clear details about the final design yet. In particular, no information has been shared about what kind of design the rear camera module will have.

Huawei aims for upper segment features on the camera and battery side

Information about the camera system shows that Huawei wants to maintain its claim in the field of photography. Allegedly, the device will use a 1/1.3 inch 50 megapixel main camera sensor. This sensor will be accompanied by a periscope telephoto camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels. In addition, a multi-spectrum sensor is expected to be included in the system. While Huawei has been trying to stand out with its image processing technologies and advanced camera systems in recent years, it seems that this approach will continue in the new model.

On the hardware side, it is stated that the company will include a new generation Kirin 9000 series processor. Huawei started to use the Kirin platform, which it developed after the US sanctions, in high-end devices again. The new generation chipset is aimed to exceed existing solutions in terms of performance and energy efficiency. In addition, it is stated that the device will have a battery with a capacity of 7000 mAh. Recently, especially Chinese manufacturers have started to offer higher capacities in thin bodies with the advantages provided by silicon-carbon battery technologies. It would not be surprising if Huawei follows a similar approach.

In addition to all this, when the large screen, high-capacity battery and advanced camera hardware come together, the device is expected to be positioned directly in the flagship segment. However, it is stated that the product is still in the development phase. For this reason, there is a possibility that changes will be made to the screen, camera or hardware features until the official launch.

Although there is no confirmed information by Huawei for now, the idea of a non-folding large-screen flagship may offer a different approach in the smartphone market. Especially in a period when manufacturers are advancing similar design lines, such a model focusing on screen ratio may become one of the options that may attract the attention of users.
