The technical specifications for Samsung’s new generation foldable phones, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, have been revealed with an extensive leak. The new information shared after the design images previously appeared on the internet reveals a more detailed picture about the screen, hardware, camera and battery features of the two models. Information shared by one of the reliable leak sources also shows that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be in a different position in Samsung’s product range.
It is stated that Galaxy Z Fold 8 was developed as a foldable model that adopts a large form factor. It is stated that the device will come with a 7.6-inch foldable main screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2448 x 1848 pixels. On the outside, there is a second screen that is 5.5 inches in size and offers a resolution of 1248 x 1972 pixels. While it is reported that both screens support a 120 Hz refresh rate, it is claimed that titanium material is used on the bottom layer of the screen and this will significantly reduce the screen footprint compared to previous generations.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 may come with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor
According to the leak, Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be powered by Samsung’s exclusive Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. On the memory side, it is stated that 256 GB and 512 GB storage options will be offered along with 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM, while the top configuration will include 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage. While color options include Graphite, Cream and Lavender, it is stated that the fourth option, called Pistachio Green, will be available only through Samsung’s online store.
On the camera side, the main camera with 50 megapixel resolution and f / 1.8 aperture is accompanied by a 50 megapixel f / 1.9 ultra wide angle camera. It is stated that the front cameras on the internal and external screens will have a resolution of 10 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.2. In particular, the increase in resolution of the ultra-wide-angle camera stands out as one of the notable innovations compared to the previous generation.
It is stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will come with a 4,800 mAh capacity battery and offer 45 W wired fast charging as well as wireless charging support. In addition, it is stated that Samsung has also made improvements in battery life. According to the leak, the device’s battery is designed to maintain at least 80 percent of its initial capacity after 1,200 charging cycles. If this information turns out to be correct, it may provide an advantage over previous generations in terms of battery performance in long-term use.
On the design side, it is stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be only 4.5 mm thick when opened. It is stated that the device will be resistant to water and dust thanks to its IP48 certification, and its weight will be 201 grams. According to the leak, the starting price of the model in Germany will be 1,999 euros.
On the other hand, it is stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is positioned as a direct continuation of the Galaxy Z Fold7, which was introduced last year, despite its naming. It is stated that the foldable internal screen of the device will switch to a resolution of 2256 x 2504 pixels and this will offer a higher resolution than Fold7. On the outside, there will be a 6.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels. While both screens support a 120 Hz refresh rate, details about the processor, camera, battery capacity and other technical features of the Ultra model have not been shared yet.
