Amazon has announced a number of AI-based features coming to the newly announced Fire HD 8 model and older members of its tablet series. Although these new features do not surprise the technology world, they seem quite useful and fun.
One that stands out is a tool called “Writing Assist.” This feature works integrated with the on-screen keyboard and is compatible with any application on the tablet. It can convert texts into predefined styles while helping users correct spelling and grammatical errors. For example, “how is my salary?” It can translate a message like this into a more professional language.
Another remarkable feature is “Webpage Summaries”. This tool automatically summarizes the main points of articles or web pages and presents them to the user in a concise way. Amazon states that with this feature, readers can learn about the content “in seconds.” Although tools that offer similar functionality already exist, having this feature built into Amazon tablets is a useful innovation.
Finally, another feature called “Wallpaper Creator” was introduced. This feature allows users to create AI-powered high-resolution wallpapers based on their imagination. Users can choose one of the ready-made commands or use their own imagination to create a background in the style they want. Amazon emphasizes that this algorithm will produce “unique and high-resolution” images.
These features will be available in the renewed version of the newly introduced Fire HD 8. However, Amazon stated that these innovations will come to other compatible Fire tablet models this month. Text Assist and Wallpaper Creator features will work on tablets released starting in 2022. Web Page Summaries will be compatible with Fire HD 10 and Fire HD 8 models released in 2018 or later.
Amazon is making artificial intelligence breakthroughs outside of the Fire tablet series
Amazon does not limit its breakthroughs in the world of artificial intelligence only to its tablets. The company recently launched a shopping-focused chatbot and is working on another chatbot codenamed “Metis.” Additionally, Alexa will also reportedly receive an AI-focused update powered by Claude AI soon.
