Qualcomm will introduce its new flagship processor called Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October. As the countdown to the introduction continues, new leaks about the processor are also added. Famous tipster Ice Universe shared important details about the new chipset’s graphics processing unit (GPU).
According to the post in question, Adreno 830 GPU will greet users in Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It is stated that the frequency speed of this graphics processor unit is 1.25 GHz and the tests are continuing.
Considering the 4 GHz speed of the Oryon CPU in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, it can be said that the 1.25 GHz speed seems low. At this point, it is worth noting that it is standard for the frequency speed of GPUs to be lower than that of CPUs in mobile processors.
To put that into perspective, the Adreno 750 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 runs at 903MHz on the standard variant and 1000MHz on the performance-focused “For Galaxy” or “Leading” versions.
According to AnTuTu’s benchmark test results, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s GPU score is 1330. It’s worth noting that this is a higher score compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
However, it is useful to look at these details with caution. It is stated that the 1.25 GHz speed is seen in the engineering sample of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and the GPU speed may be different in the final version.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to be manufactured using 3nm process
According to the leak, Qualcomm’s new flagship will be produced on the 3nm process. Dual-channel PoP high-speed LPDDR5X SDRAM support and Qualcomm Spectra ISP 8 series image processor are also among the features of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
