A Turk has become the head of technology at Lenovo

Lenovo, the leader of the global PC market, has appointed Dr. Tolga Kurtoğlu as its Vice President of Technology (CTO). According to BTDünyası, Kurtoğlu began his career as a research engineer at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), where pioneering computing products such as Ethernet and Mouse were developed, and rose to the position of CEO. Kurtoğlu, who also served as the CTO of Hewlett Packard (HP) between 2020 and 2023, also served as the Global President of HP Labs.

Dr. Yong Rui, who served as CTO for the past seven years, has been appointed as President of Emerging Technologies Division.

“As we embrace a unique opportunity in the field of AI, I am delighted to welcome Tolga to Lenovo to help us further realize our ambitions as a global technology giant and advance our AI leadership,” said Yuanqing Yang, Lenovo Chairman and CEO, in a statement regarding Dr. Tolga Kurtoğlu’s appointment. “His experience in hardware, software and AI technologies will further strengthen our innovation leadership and smarter AI for all areas of focus.”

Who is Tolga Kurtoglu?

After graduating from Bornova Anatolian High School, Tolga Kurtoğlu completed the Department of Mechanical Engineering at METU, completed his master’s degree at Carnegie Mellon University and then completed his doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin. Kurtoğlu, who worked as a research scientist at NASA between 2006 and 2010, joined Xerox PARC in 2010. After serving as Vice President and Director of the Systems Sciences Laboratory, he was appointed CEO. Kurtoğlu, who started his duties as HP CTO and HP Labs Global President at the beginning of 2021, left this position in 2023. He has been working as the founder of Leap AI for the last 1.5 years and has been a board member at various technology companies.

Dr. Tolga Kurtoğlu, who holds 32 patents registered in the US Patent Office, is certain to make significant contributions to Lenovo’s goals with his impressive career in innovation and technology.

With this appointment, it is anticipated that Lenovo will take important steps, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, and strengthen its leadership in the sector.
