A new smartphone is coming in cooperation with Infinix and Pininfarina

Phone manufacturer Infinix has started preparations for a new smartphone developed in partnership with Pininfarina, one of the well-established and prestigious design studios of the automobile world. The brand’s posts on social media on November 27 clearly revealed that this new model, which will be introduced in December, will bear the signature of Pininfarina. Although the collaboration is not directly mentioned by name, “Italy. 95 years of design. Supercar DNA.” The clues given with expressions such as these made it clear who this partnership was with. At this point, it is worth reminding that Togg also worked with Pininfarina for the design.

In the post in question, the announcement date of the phone has not yet been announced, but Infinix’s description of it as “a masterpiece from the hands of a legend” shows that there are great expectations from the device. Pininfarina will be at the center of the design, and it is reported that not only the external appearance but also the hardware materials and user interface are being worked on. This shows that the project will go beyond a superficial aesthetic touch.

Infinix has previously worked with BMW

Pininfarina has been known for its design approach in a wide range of products, from automobiles to bicycles and kitchenware, since 1930. Known as the name behind iconic vehicles such as the Ferrari 365 Daytona, F40, F50 and Enzo, the studio has left important marks not only in the automotive world but also in the field of industrial design. Despite this, the technology world does not have many examples, especially regarding mobile devices.

Pininfarina’s first serious contact with mobile devices dates back to its three-year collaboration with Motorola. Although the Motorola i833, one of the models that emerged in this process, attracted attention with its curved structure and hexagonal details, it could not reflect the timeless elegance of Pininfarina’s cars in terms of design. It seems that the focus is mostly on concept vehicle projects during the cooperation process.

On the other hand, Infinix’s design history generally follows a younger and experimental line. Although the brand tries to stand out from time to time with eye-catching color palettes that are far from symmetry, it produces visually striking but not permanent designs in the industry. Previously, there was a collaboration with the BMW Group on the Note 40 Series Racing Edition, and in this model, the iconic M series stripes added a sporty atmosphere to the phone. However, no significant changes were made to the basic form of the device.

The fact that the new phone is the first flagship model to be developed in cooperation with Pininfarina is an important step for Infinix. The information that they are working together on the hardware and interface of the device shows that it will go beyond just a visual contribution. However, it is not yet known how long the collaboration will last or whether it will include other devices.

It remains unclear for now whether the phone developed within the scope of this collaboration will represent a timeless design like the Ferrari Daytona or a forgotten attempt like the Motorola i833 when it comes to market. However, the resulting product may be an important example that will shed light on both Pininfarina’s limited history in the mobile field and Infinix’s lack of consistency in design.

All eyes will now be on the official launch, which is expected to be held in December. In addition to the aesthetic details of the device, the integrity it offers in terms of user experience and technical infrastructure will determine the success of this joint work. Among the prominent details is the information that Pininfarina will be effective in the interface design as well as its hardware touches. This suggests that the phone can contribute not only to the appearance but also to the user experience.
