Anthropic has added a new one to its investments to increase the processing capacity needed for artificial intelligence models. According to Bloomberg, the company signed a six-year agreement with the artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure initiative Volta, which was founded this year, with a total value of $ 10 billion. Within the scope of this collaboration, Volta will provide the cloud computing resources necessary for the training and operation of Anthropic’s artificial intelligence models, especially the Claude family.
One of the striking aspects of the agreement was the involvement of more than one technology company in the project. Volta will work with cryptocurrency mining company Bitdeer on the development of its data center infrastructure. The facility to be established will be located in Norway and will offer a capacity of 133 megawatts. In addition, it is planned to use artificial intelligence systems based on Nvidia’s new generation Vera Rubin architecture in the data center. This platform of Nvidia, which has not yet been put into wide use, is among the company’s most up-to-date artificial intelligence hardware.

Volta’s inclusion in the Nvidia Cloud Partner program is also among the notable details of the agreement. This program brings together cloud service providers using Nvidia GPUs in their data centers under the same ecosystem. While such cloud providers have become more important recently due to the increasing processing power needs of artificial intelligence companies, Nvidia’s hardware continues to be one of the basic components of the industry.
Volta had previously announced that it had made a large-scale agreement with an artificial intelligence laboratory, but did not disclose the name of its business partner. Bloomberg reported that the agreement was made with Anthropic, based on unnamed sources familiar with the matter. TechCrunch also contacted Anthropic following the news and requested additional information. The company did not share an official statement about the agreement at the time the news was published.
In recent months, Anthropic has been collaborating with different companies to expand its computing infrastructure. The company recently announced that it had made new cloud processing capacity agreements with SpaceX and Amazon. These steps support the goal of obtaining more processing power in order to develop larger models and meet increasing user demand in the growing competitive environment in the field of artificial intelligence.
