Xiaomi has now officially launched the Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro Dual-Camera Edition model, which was previously available for pre-order on the Youpin crowdfunding platform, in China. The new outdoor security camera, which comes with a solar panel, appeals to areas where there is no fixed internet infrastructure, thanks to its ability to operate without the need for a power line and its built-in 4G connection. The product, which is on sale with a price tag of 649 yuan (about $96), targets users looking for an affordable security solution. Xiaomi’s new model combines the independent structure it offers in terms of energy and connection with a dual camera system. Thus, it offers a flexible solution for different usage scenarios such as houses, summer houses, agricultural lands or construction sites.
One of the standout features of the product is that it does not need a constant external power supply, thanks to the solar panel included in the box. While the panel feeds the battery in conditions where there is sufficient sunlight, the internal battery is activated when the light is insufficient. According to the information shared by Xiaomi, the camera has a battery with a capacity of 9,900 mAh and can provide a usage time of more than eight days with a full charge. This structure contributes to the uninterrupted operation of the device in areas where there is no electrical infrastructure or wiring is difficult. In addition, thanks to the product’s communication via 4G, it is possible to use it in places where Wi-Fi access is not available.
Xiaomi Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro draws attention with its dual camera and 4G connection
Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro has internal dual SIM card support. Xiaomi states that this system works compatible with mobile operators in China and helps maintain the connection by automatically switching between two lines in cases where coverage is weak. Thus, the camera is aimed to provide a more stable structure in data transfer. The company states that in this way, connection continuity is increased, especially in rural areas or areas where the mobile signal level is variable. It has not yet been announced which operators the global version will support.
On the camera system side, there are two 5 megapixel sensors. The camera located at the top can move 180 degrees on the horizontal axis and 20 degrees on the vertical axis. The second camera at the bottom offers 355 degrees horizontal and 95 degrees vertical movement capability. Thanks to this structure, it is possible to monitor a larger area from a single point. Both sensors offer support for high-resolution video recording, which Xiaomi defines as “3K”. In addition, lenses with f/1.6 aperture aim to increase the level of detail by collecting more light in low-light environments.
The model, which also offers color imaging support on the night vision side, is equipped with dual infrared LEDs. According to the information provided by Xiaomi, the system can obtain clear night images up to approximately 10 meters. In addition, it is stated that the device also includes features such as detecting human movements and smart monitoring, thanks to artificial intelligence-supported security functions. On the storage side, microSD card support is offered and it is stated that the device can be used with cards up to 64 GB. Offering dust and water resistance thanks to its IP66 certification, the camera is designed to suit outdoor conditions.
Xiaomi has not yet announced when the Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro will be available in international markets. Despite this, it is known that the company has put a significant portion of its smart home products on sale in global markets in recent years. For this reason, it seems possible that the new model will be available in Europe and other regions in the future.
