Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series appeals to young people with its slim body and Panda exercises

Huawei introduced its new smart watch family, Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series, at the global event held in Thailand. Continuing the line of square-screen watches, the new series consists of two different models: the standard Huawei Watch Fit 5 and the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro with more advanced features. Combining the comfort of daily use with health monitoring, this product family targets especially users with active lifestyles and those looking for a light, thin, easily portable smart watch in the city.

While the new series comes with a thinner and lighter body than its predecessor on the design side, it also includes comprehensive innovations in terms of screen brightness, sensor structure, battery capacity, sports modes and security functions. Huawei does not only focus on exercise tracking in the Watch Fit 5 Series; It aims to offer a more complete smartwatch experience with features such as sleep, heart health, women’s health, fall detection, emergency call and NFC payment that makes daily life easier.

The watch that turns sports into fun: Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro Review

Huawei Watch Fit 5 maintains the brand’s square design approach and comes with a more refined body structure. The watch, which weighs 27 grams excluding the strap, is among the products that do not create a significant burden on the wrist with its 9.5 mm thickness. These values are especially important for those who want to use their smart watch without taking it off throughout the day. The 1.82-inch AMOLED screen of the watch can reach a peak brightness of 2500 nits. In this way, it becomes easier to read the data on the screen outdoors, under strong sunlight or during sports. The thin frame of 1.8 mm ensures that the screen area is perceived as larger than the body.

In the standard model, the use of environmentally friendly materials has also become a part of the product narrative. The 100 percent recycled aluminum case option and nylon strap versions differentiate the watch in terms of both lightness and sustainable material approach. In addition, fluoroelastomer strap options are also offered in black, white and purple colors. This structure brings the Huawei Watch Fit 5 closer to a simpler accessory line that can be used not only during sports but also with daily clothes.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 also brings significant upgrades on the hardware side compared to the previous generation. It is stated that the overall performance has been increased by 50 percent with the new generation improved chip. Increasing the internal storage space from 4 GB to 64 GB eMMC allows the watch to offer larger space for applications, records and daily use data. This increase is especially important for those who use their smartwatch as a more independent device rather than just a notification screen. The main improvements in this generation include increasing the screen brightness from 2000 nits to 2500 nits in the standard model, thinning the frames and increasing the battery capacity from 400 mAh to 471 mAh.

The new voice recording function is one of the details that expands the watch’s capabilities for daily use. This feature can be a practical use for users who want to take short notes without taking out their phone, start a quick recording during a meeting, or create daily reminders. However, the main focus of the series is seen in health and sports tracking.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series has switched to PPG 6.0 sensor module. This new module, which has a 6 PD and 6 LED structure, aims to obtain more precise results in measurements such as heart rate, SpO2 and respiratory awareness during sleep. The TruSleep 5.0 system also enables more detailed sleep tracking. Sleep apnea awareness metrics help monitor the user’s breathing patterns throughout the night. It should not be forgotten that the data here is for personal health awareness rather than medical diagnosis; However, regular follow-up habits can contribute to earlier detection of some conditions that affect the quality of daily life.

The new body temperature sensor is used with the aim of higher accuracy in monitoring women’s health. The data presented under topics such as ovulation tracking and cycle management gain a more comprehensive structure compared to the previous generation. Huawei also states that it supports women’s health management with new research features. Such functions can be considered as another indicator of the transformation of smart watches from being solely sports-oriented devices into health assistants that provide more personal and continuous monitoring.

Another area that Huawei is trying to differentiate in the new series is short-term exercises. The Mini-Workout application offers 30 different stretching and movement sessions that do not require equipment, accompanied by an animated panda character. This feature, developed especially for users who spend long hours at the desk, encourages movement with short breaks. The panda on the watch face changes its emotion depending on the user’s activity level, turning exercise into a more gamified experience. This approach offers a more accessible exercise method for users who cannot spare time for long sports programs but do not want to remain inactive during the day.

On the sports modes side, Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series supports more than 100 types of exercise. Cycling mode includes features such as virtual power and cadence measurement, route navigation and turning the phone into a cycling computer. In trail running, the improved Sunflower positioning system, waypoint distances and altitude trend graph are provided. This data creates a more professional experience for users who are not satisfied with just tracking distance and time, but want to see their performance in more detail.

NFC support is also among the practical features of the series in daily use. Users can make contactless payments with their watches via supported payment infrastructures without taking out their phone or wallet. Such features, which increase the place of smart watches in daily life, can enable the device to be used more frequently during the day, as well as sports and health tracking.

The social features offered through the Huawei Health application are also one of the complementary elements of the series on the software side. Users can create private groups within the application, regardless of the operating system. Data such as steps taken, distance traveled and calories burned can be shared with friends. Instant ranking and rating lists create a social motivation area for users who want to gain regular exercise habits. This approach takes sports tracking from an individual measurement screen to a more interactive structure.

On the battery life side, Huawei Watch Fit 5 offers up to 10 days of operating time in light use and up to 7 days in typical use. New generation high-silicon battery technology helps maintain usage time despite increased screen brightness and expanding feature set. The series’ compatibility with both iOS and Android devices enables users in different phone ecosystems to choose these watches.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro distinguishes itself with advanced health measurements and sports modes

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro, the top model of the series, differs from the standard model with its use of more durable materials and expanded health features. The Pro model, which comes in orange, white and black color options, uses a titanium alloy body, 2.5D sapphire glass and aviation-grade nanoceramic coating in the white version. According to the information provided by Huawei, this coating increases the hardness level of the device by 130 percent. This detail is especially meaningful for people who are interested in outdoor sports and want to use their watch more resistant to scratches and impacts. While the screen size increases to 1.92 inches in the Pro model, the LTPO panel offers a refresh rate between 1Hz and 60Hz and can reach 3000 nits of brightness.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro offers more advanced features on the health tracking side. Single-channel ECG analysis, atrial fibrillation risk detection and arterial stiffness measurement show that the Pro model comes with a more advanced cardiovascular monitoring suite than the standard model. Vascular elasticity measurement and arrhythmia alerts may be particularly meaningful for users who want to keep a closer eye on their health data. Despite this, it is clear that these features do not replace professional medical evaluation, and the data provided by smart watches should be considered together with a physician’s opinion when necessary.

On the security side, the new 32g range high sensitivity IMU sensor stands out. Thanks to this sensor, high-impact falls can be detected and automatic emergency calls can be made. Fall detection can provide an added layer of safety for older users as well as solo activities such as biking, trail running, hiking or free diving. The fact that the smart watch offers daily health monitoring and security functions together is one of the points where this generation differs from previous Huawei Watch Fit models.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro also differentiates itself with deeper features in some branches. In golf mode, vector maps of more than 17,000 golf courses around the world, wind and slope data, as well as a live scorecard on the wrist are offered. On the free diving side, support is provided up to 40 meters and crash warning is also among the features. In racquet sports, the ability to perform forehand and backhand analyzes with third-party applications such as Tennix and PickleX makes the watch’s sports tracking more branch-specific. This structure brings the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro closer to a watch that provides more detailed data in certain sports rather than just a device that tracks general activity.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro has wireless fast charging support and it is stated that the device can reach full charge in 60 minutes. This feature increases the daily practicality of the Pro model in terms of shortening charging times in intensive use. Like the standard model, the Pro model is compatible with iOS and Android devices.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series was offered for sale via Huawei Online Store as of May 7. The starting price of Huawei Watch Fit 5 was announced as 7,999 TL. Users who pay 99 TL during the pre-sale period will receive a 500 TL discount and a FreeBuds SE 2 wireless headset gift. The starting price of Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is 11,499 TL. Those who pay 99 TL for this model during the pre-sale period are offered a 1,000 TL discount and a FreeBuds SE 3 wireless headset gift.

The event in Thailand was not limited to the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series. Huawei also introduced the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 – Racing Legend Edition model, Huawei Watch Ultimate Design – Spring Edition version and Huawei MatePad Pro Max, developed with Eliud Kipchoge, a well-known name in the marathon world, on the same stage. Despite this, the main focus of the event on the wearable technology side was the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series, with its lighter body, advanced screen, health sensors, security functions and deepened sports features in the Pro model. The new series concretely demonstrates Huawei’s approach to transforming its square-screen smartwatch line into a more comprehensive health and sports platform.
