Gemini-supported smart speaker market is gaining momentum

It appears that the Onn branded smart speaker, which has not yet been officially announced, will work with Google’s new generation digital assistant Gemini. This development indicates that the third-party Google-supported speaker market, which has been stagnant for a long time, may become active again. The first information emerged when the device was listed in the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) database.

The last third-party speakers with Google Assistant integration were the JBL Authentics 200, 300 and 500 models, introduced at the end of 2023. Despite this, it was noteworthy that new products did not arrive in the following period. With Google shifting its focus to Gemini-based solutions, a new transition period has begun in smart home devices. The Gemini for Home system, which the company has opened to early access on its own speakers as of 2025, is at the center of this transformation.

Gemini-supported third-party speakers are on the agenda again

The CSA-listed Onn Smart Speaker not only confirms Gemini support but also reveals some details about the technical specifications of the device. Accordingly, the speaker; It supports basic functions such as audio playback, smart home control, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection. In addition, thanks to Google Cast for Audio support, uninterrupted media transfer from different devices becomes possible. These features show that the device aims to provide a versatile experience in daily use.

On the hardware side, physical media control keys, LED indicators and 10W output power stand out. In addition, there is a microphone array that can detect sound from a long distance. As an important detail for user privacy, it is stated that the device also includes a physical switch to completely disable the microphone. Such hardware solutions offer practical control, especially for users who are sensitive about data security.

On the other hand, the release date of the device is not yet clear. The fact that Walmart’s new Onn 4K streaming stick and Onn 4K Pro models started to appear on store shelves without an official announcement suggests that a similar scenario may apply to this speaker. However, the fact that Google’s new $100 Home speaker is not yet available indicates that the timing may change.

Being included in the CSA database generally indicates that the products will become official in a short time.
