Sony expands its Bravia Theater series with new soundbar models

Sony continues to expand its Bravia Theater series, which includes home theater solutions, with new soundbar models and accessories. While the company announced two new soundbar models named Bar 7 and Bar 5, it also announced that it will also introduce three new subwoofers and updated rear speaker options. Bar 7, which will be located next to Bar 8 and Bar 9, which are positioned in the upper segment of the current product range, addresses different user needs along with Bar 5, which was developed for those looking for a more compact and affordable alternative. In addition, the interoperable nature of the new hardware attracts attention.

The Bar 7 model supports advanced audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and IMAX Enhanced with its structure consisting of a total of nine drivers. The system, which includes three woofers, two tweeters, two upward and two side-firing drivers, as well as four passive radiators, aims to offer a wider and more layered sound stage. Despite this, the Bar 8 and Bar 9 models in the upper segment appear to have 11 and 13 speakers, respectively. Sony’s oval-shaped X-Balanced speaker design provides a more balanced sound production, especially by using the center and peripheral drivers. However, 360 Spatial Sound Mapping and Sound Field Optimization technologies also come into play for a more immersive listening experience.

New generation audio solutions in Sony Bravia Theater series

The new Bar 7 model will be offered as a package with Bravia Theater Sub 7 for a price of $870. In addition, for users who want to install a more powerful system, there is the opportunity to expand with separately sold rear speakers. On the other hand, Sony also announced three different new subwoofer models. While the smallest model, Sub 7, has a 5.1-inch driver, the Sub 8 model promises more pronounced bass performance with a 7.9-inch driver. Sub 9, which is at the top of the series, focuses on stronger and cleaner bass production with dual 7.9 inch drivers. But on the pricing side, the Sub 7 is $330, the Sub 8 is $500, and the Sub 9 is $900.

Another striking feature in the new product family is dual subwoofer support. With certain soundbar models, two subwoofers can be used simultaneously. This structure provides a more balanced and room-filling bass performance, making it possible to offer a fuller experience even at low volumes. In addition, compatibility with some Sony AV receiver models allows the system to adapt to different installations.

On the rear speaker side, the Theater Rear 9 model stands out. Compared to the previous generation, the addition of an up-firing driver creates a more immersive surround feel, especially with ceiling reflections. In addition, aluminum diaphragm drivers and mobility wall mounting bracket increase installation flexibility. However, it is stated that two Rear 9 speakers will be offered with a price tag of $ 750.

The Bar 5 model, developed for those looking for a more affordable solution, attracts attention with its price of $ 350. This model, which has a 3.1 channel structure, does not have up-firing drivers, although Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support is provided by software methods. Sony’s S-Force Pro Front Surround and Vertical Sound Engine technologies aim to increase the environmental sound effect despite limited hardware. In addition, it is aimed to hear the dialogues more clearly thanks to the built-in subwoofer and Voice Zoom 3 feature.

Most of the new Bravia Theater products will be available for pre-order in the spring. The Bar 5 model is already available for order. The expanding product family diversifies the alternatives for home theater systems by offering options that appeal to different budgets and usage scenarios.
