Apple increases screen order for foldable iPhone to 20 million

New supply chain information continues to emerge about Apple’s foldable iPhone model, which has been talked about for a long time. Latest news from South Korea shows that the company has significantly increased the foldable screen orders planned for this device. According to supply chain sources in the technology sector, Apple is aiming for a larger production volume by increasing the amount of screen production it plans to initially produce. This development indicates that the company has a very ambitious forecast regarding the demand for the first foldable iPhone model. In addition, the expectation that the screen production will be carried out by Samsung Display has become increasingly clear. On the other hand, Apple is expected to enter direct competition in the foldable phone market with this model.

Previously shared estimates stated that Samsung Display planned to produce approximately 15 million foldable screens for Apple with minimal wrinkle marks. Despite this, according to new information published in the South Korean press, Apple increased this order by approximately 33 percent. Looking at the updated figures, it is stated that the production target has been increased to 20 million panels. This suggests that the company has higher expectations about the sales performance of the first foldable iPhone model. It is also stated that the number of panels ordered only represents the initial phase. If demand expectations are met, it is possible that additional orders will be placed in the future.

Apple steps up production preparations for foldable iPhone

According to industry sources, Samsung Display is working on a special production line to meet Apple’s demands. It is reported that this production line is specifically designed to produce foldable OLED panels that comply with Apple’s quality and durability standards. The screen creasing problem, which is one of the most discussed issues in foldable phones, is shown as one of the areas that Apple focuses on. Despite this, the company’s final design details have not yet been officially announced. However, it is stated that Samsung is planned to start production in May 2026.

There is limited information about the technical features of the foldable iPhone for now. Analyst reports state that the device may have a book-style folding mechanism. In addition, the display technology is expected to use the advanced OLED panel architecture developed by Samsung. However, it is also stated that Apple is working on different solutions regarding screen durability and hinge design. Although these details are not finalized, it is said that Apple is focusing on the long-lasting use of the device.

On the other hand, the pricing of the device is also one of the highlights. According to claims circulating in the industry, the starting price of the foldable iPhone may be around $ 2,000. Despite this, it is considered that the high price may not completely limit sales due to Apple’s strong brand perception in the premium segment. In addition, the growth of the foldable phone market in recent years with manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei and Honor creates a new competitive area for Apple.

Current information indicates that Apple may introduce the foldable iPhone model with the iPhone 18 Pro series in the autumn. This timing means the company could announce the new product category around the same time as the traditional iPhone launch schedule.
