10 devices including Xiaomi 12 and Pad 6 will no longer receive updates

Xiaomi with support calendar change in July Ended software updates for 10 phones and tablets. The list includes the POCO X5 series alongside old flagships such as Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. In addition, the three tablets in the Xiaomi Pad 6 family will no longer receive regular security patches. The decision does not prevent the devices from working, but security and application compatibility become important in long-term use.

The company did not cut update support only for entry-level or affordable models. High-end phones of its time, such as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, have also reached the end of their support period. On the other hand, Redmi K60E and Redmi 10 5G make up the Redmi side of the list. Thus, Xiaomi removed the phones and tablets it offered for sale in different price ranges from the scope of support within the same calendar.

The end of update support means these devices will no longer receive Android, HyperOS and regular security patches. However, phones and tablets will continue their basic functions such as calling, messaging, internet access and application use. However, Xiaomi will not send new system features and fixes for future software errors to these models. As security vulnerabilities increase over time, banking and personal data transactions will require more care.

Since the release dates of the models were different, not every product received the same length of support. Xiaomi 12 family went on sale in 2022 and completed the software period of approximately four years. On the other hand, the POCO X5 series and the Xiaomi Pad 6 family met with users in 2023. However, Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which is only available in the Chinese market, is also on the same support list. The phone, which stands out with its camera system in cooperation with Leica, will not receive regular system and security patches from now on.

POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro 5Gis among the models widely preferred by users looking for affordable phones. On the other hand, while the Redmi K60E was sold mostly in the Chinese market, the Redmi 10 5G offered a near-entry-level option in different regions. On the tablet side, three members of the Xiaomi Pad 6 family are affected by the same support change. In particular, Xiaomi Pad 6 is of interest to a wider audience as it is available for sale in the global market and meets with users in Türkiye. Those who continue to use a device on the list must first install the latest available software update. It is also important to download applications from reliable stores such as Google Play Store, uninstall unused applications and check permissions regularly. In addition, screen lock, two-step verification and regular data backup can reduce security risks.
